OUR STORY

Started in 2021, Gravity Line is focused on helping others access and explore the vertical realm in some of the world's most challenging environments.

Gravity Line was initially created to design and build via ferrata routes, but after completing one of the longest and most unique routes in North America the focus shifted to encompass a broader range of rope access solutions and risk management.

Our team is made up of a select few elite practitioners that cover a wide range of experience, from remote big wall free climbing, deep canyon exploration, and documentary film rigging to professional rope rescue and expedition safety.

Stated simply, we're passionate about exploring wild places high above the ground and helping others get there safely.

Our personal stories often originate in the tradition of rock climbing, but our paths have converged into the vast world of technical rope work. We are climbers, riggers, skiers, snow scientists, instructors, engineers, technicians, and rescue professionals rooted in a deep passion for the vertical realm.

WILSON CUTBIRTH

Wilson is a seasoned professional in the vertical realm, with over a decade of experience in industrial rope access. He has tackled a wide range of projects on buildings, wind turbines, dams, and other structures, always prioritizing safety and efficiency. With thorough training in technical rope rescue, Wilson brings an unmatched level of expertise to every job. He has also worked as a tree climber and arborist, specializing in complex tree removals. In the film industry, Wilson has delivered creative rigging solutions to meet the unique demands of production companies. In 2020, he was part of the winning team at the Petzl Rope Trip, and in 2024, he led a crew to successfully conduct the first zero-impact seismic survey on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. When not working at height, Wilson is an avid adventurer, often found scaling the towering cliffs of Yosemite or embarking on big wall climbing expeditions in remote corners of the globe. He thrives on the challenges of the natural world, whether it's pushing his limits on a demanding rock face or exploring uncharted routes. His passion for the outdoors not only fuels his work but also shapes his approach—bringing the same dedication, problem-solving skills, and respect for the environment to every project.

Senior Safety Coordinator

PHILIPPE WHEELOCK

Philippe is a veteran Field Safety Coordinator with a multifaceted skill set, specializing in risk management, helicopter operations, and mountain rescue. With a strong background in leading and training Search and Rescue (SAR) teams, he's played a pivotal role in the success of the US Antarctic Program (USAP) Search and Rescue team, risk management of rope access teams in the Grand Canyon, and various technical mountain rescue operations in Colorado and Washington.
